Sholem aleykhem Jeffery,

I will look at the 3 pages you printed for L that she plans to leave for me at our synagogue.. I'll be in touch next week.

H

Sholem aleykhem H, I look forward to hearing from you. By the way, do you know Aaron Lansky? I am reading the book, "Outwitting History" right now. Fascinating story. Is the yiddish they spoke in Russia, the same as they would speak in Germany, or Poland? Jeff Goodlove

Dear Jeff. - Greetings - congratulation on the hunting success with a bow !

Lee Harvey Oswald did not kill President Kennedy He may not even

have fired a shot. Do some checking .

Al Bowdish

Al! Great to hear from you. I hope things are well in Oklahoma. Actually that was my Brother Jays deer. I did some checking on the assassination of John F. Kennedy and you are correct, there is much controversy surrounding that event. I woke up from a nap in Kindergarten and our teacher and principal announced it. I remember the teacher was crying and they showed the horse pulling the coffin on television. Everyone was very sad. I am not sure if there was a conspiracy or not. That's all I know for now. Thanks for keeping in touch. Jeff goodlove

John F. Kennedy assassination

President Kennedy with his wife, Jacqueline, and Texas Governor John Connally in the presidential limousine, minutes before his assassination.

The assassination of John F. Kennedy, the thirty-fifth President of the United States, took place on Friday, November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, at 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time (18:30 UTC) in Dealey Plaza. Kennedy was fatally shot while riding with his wife Jacqueline in a Presidential motorcade.

The ten-month investigation of the Warren Commission of 1963–1964, the United States House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) of 1976–1979, and other government investigations concluded that the President was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald was subsequently murdered by Jack Ruby before he could stand trial. This conclusion was initially met with support among the American public; however, polls conducted from 1966 to 2004 concluded approximately 80% of the American public have held beliefs contrary to these findings.[1][2] The assassination is still the subject of widespread debate and has spawned numerous conspiracy theories and alternative scenarios. In 1979, the HSCA found both the original FBI investigation and the Warren Commission Report to be seriously flawed. The HSCA also concluded that there were at least four shots fired, that there was a "high probability" that two gunmen fired at the President, and that it was probable that a conspiracy existed.[3] Later studies, including one by the National Academy of Sciences,[4] have called into question the accuracy of the evidence used by the HSCA to support its finding of four shots.[2]

Hi Jeff

Just wanted to address the issue of going to Israel. The government of Israel sends all Jewish children who are interested and who qualify to Israel every year. The program is called Birthright. It is fully funded by the government and private funds. My youngest son went this year and had the time of his life. For those of you who are just discovering your Jewish roots and who are 18-26, you may want to look into this wonderful program. I felt totally safe sending my son and still send my clients to Israel.

Susan

Susan, Good to hear from you! I learned of this program last Sunday at a Bat Mitzvah that I attended for my friends daughter. How is R doing? I would love to get back in contact with her about translating. Otherwise I may have to learn Yiddish and translate myself! Ha! Thank you for your message about going to Israel. Please stay in touch. You have been such a great help to me. Jeff Goodlove

This Day…

December 11, 1770

Lord Dunmore was appointed Governor of the Virginia Colony on December 11, 1770. He left the governorship of the New York Colony, because of his desire to take up selected lands in western New York, with the approval of Sir William Johnson, the Indian agent. The British government ordered Lord Dunmore not to erect any more western counties. But Washington and others kept importuning him to grant patents for the lands which he and William Crawford had selected.

Colonel Thomas Bullit became on of the most interesting figures in this movement, because of his survey of lands down the Ohio Valley. He was an officer in the Forbes army of 1758, and while guarding convoys of the traders along the Forbes Road, suffered his defeat at the hands of the Indians three miles east of Ligonier on May 23, 1759. He afterwards secured a surveyor’s commission from William and Mary College, at Williamsburg, and started marking out lands in the Ohio Valley. Some of his surveys were questioned. The famed William Crawford also received a commission from the same college, and he interested himself mostly in the lands which he had selected for Washington.

John Murray, Earl of Dunmore, otherwise known as Lord Dunmore, was born in Scotland in 1732, and died in England in 1809. He was descended on the female side from the royal Stuarts. When he was appointed Governor of New York in 1770, his salary was to be paid from a duty on tea, but within the next year he was appointed into the governmental and legal life of old Westmoreland County. He is reputed to have visited western Pennsylvania at least three times. He first came in 1773, when Washington was to have accompanied him to the plantation of Justice Crawford (at present Connellsville). Washington was detained by the death of one of the Custis children. In the spring of 1774 Washington again postponed a contemplated visit with Dunmore, and again failed to accompany him. Lord Dunmore visited Pittsburgh and “Fort Dunmore” for the last time in February 1775. Despite his presiding as a justice in the Pennsylvania court at Hannastown, Crawford was all the while in touch with Dunmore, up until at least the April term, 1774, when Connolly appeared at Hannastown. Jeff,

The German Historical Institute was unable to confirm or deny anything about the Count's remains.

They also gave me the info for the Hessisches Staatsarchiv in the city of Marburg

and a Professor Ingrao at Brown University.

Hopefully, these sources will be able to find more info on the Count's remains.

Bob

Bob, Isn't the Hessisches Staatsarchiv material on Microfilm at Morristown? I think that's its part of the microfilm collection that I have been trying to get sent to me. Other libraries have it, but they won't send it out. You can find them on Worldcat. Jeff
